Publix Super Markets Inc., a Florida-based grocer, has recently signed a lease as they plan to invade the Charlotte market.
The company plans to open their 15th branch in 2016, which a 49,000-square-bart store situated in Prosperity Village Square, a residential and shopping centre located near Interstate 485.
Publix is set to give 125 job opportunities once their branch opens.
“We see lots of opportunity for growth in this community, particularly with the connection of 485,” says Publix’s Media and Community Relations Manager Kim Reynolds.
Based on a recent rezoning application, the 100,000 square-feet Prosperity Village Square will comprise of commercial, entertainment office and retail spaces along with 292 multifamily units.
The grocery chain continues to expand in North Carolina. In fact, since February this year, the company has already opened 5 new branches in the state, which includes three branches in Charlotte for October alone. At present, they have eight branches in Charlotte including South Carolina locations in York and Lancaster counties.
