Third Ward, known as the west quadrant, is nestled between Tryon Street, I-77, and West Trade Street. It is the most diverse of the city's four original quadrants.
Everything you need is in this ward and there's something to do everyday of the week.
Charlotte's Uptown Third Ward community is home to the Carolina Panthers, who play at the Bank of America Stadium, the ward's most recognizable symbol.


Third Ward is also home to the ballpark neighborhood. New apartment towers surround Romare Bearden Park and BB&T Ballpark. It is also the location of the Knight Theatre, the Mint Museum, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, and the Harvey Gantt African American Culture Center.
Anchoring the west side of Third Ward is Gateway Village, the largest current development.It is 1,500,000 sq ft (140,000 m2) in size, and home to offices, shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and over 500 housing units. The Charlotte Campus of Johnson & Wales University is also located in Gateway Village.
One of the newest areas to Third Ward is the “Third Ward Warehouse District.” It includes urban developments featuring restored warehouse buildings. Some communities in the warehouse district include: First Row, Gallery Lofts, The Annex, Skybox Towns and Luxury Lofts.
