Study: N.C. Ranks No. 3 in Business Environment

N.C. Ranks No. 3 in Business Environment

Study: N.C. Ranks No. 3 in Business Environment

The state of North Carolina ranked No. 3 in business environment by Development Counselors International, a New York based firm that ranks national economic development. In a recent study more than 300 corporate executives gave their opinion on the cities, states and regions with the best climate for future business development. The top five states with the best overall business environment were:

  1. Texas
  2. Florida
  3. Georgia and North Carolina (tie)
  4. South Carolina
  5. Tennessee

News like this could influence business and political leaders to not only continue what North Carolina has been doing right to garner such praise, but to double down on key data points that appear to spur business growth and development. Many realtors know that a healthy economy often creates an equally healthy demand for more housing. Developers in Charlotte are rushing to build Uptown housing units, apartments, and luxury condos. Seasoned real estate brokers will take note of this growth spurt and position themselves for the ripple effect caused by this wave of economic development and growth.

The top five regional or community economic development groups ranked by “best in class” included:

  1. Kansas City Area Development Council
  2. Charlotte Regional Partnership, Columbus 2020 (tie)
  3. Greater Phoenix Economic Council
  4. Greater Houston partnership, Nashville Chamber of Commerce (tie)

Charlotte Real Estate Showcase Realty

Many Millenials are moving to the Charlotte area.

RealtyTrac, a real estate information company, recently analyzed data from the Census Bureau and they were able to track the migration patterns of millennials from 2007 to 2013. As you can see from the map and the information these generation y buyers are on the move to the Charlotte area with a 32 percent increase in recent years.

Daren Blomquist, Vice President of RealtyTrac, was quoted saying “The millennial generation is the key to a sustained real estate recovery. Naturally, millenials are attracted to markets with good job prospects and low unemployment but that tend to have high rental rates and high home appreciation.”

With the exponential amount of jobs being added and the establishment of major sports teams, Charlotte is becoming an appealing location for many recent college graduates to either move to or move back to.

According to a new report released this week from The Demand Institute, Millennials and Their Homes: Still Seeking the American Dream, millennials are expected to make the move to the suburbs within the next 5 years. In fact, Millennials are expected to form 8.3 million households over the next five years and by 2018 they are projected to spend $1.6 trillion on home purchases.

Homes Selling Faster Than Last Year

Homes Selling Faster Than Last Year

Real Estate Charlotte

As reported by Graziella Steele in the August 12, edition of The Mecklenburg Times, Charlotte homes are selling faster than last year. The National Association of Realtors website released the June data saying that houses were selling 4 days faster than the previous year. The website Realtor.com which is managed by the association also said that Charlotte is located in the top 10 housing markets positioned for growth in the third quarter, making this fall prime time to list your home. Steele presents many eye opening facts about the growing housing market quoting Redfin, that Charlotte is the 7th largest growing metro area in the country last year. With the expected growth of the housing market and the growth of Charlotte as a whole last year Redfin’s chief economist Nela Richardson wrote, “People aren’t just moving to where the jobs are; it now matters how much homes cost when they get there.” With the median home value being reported at $168, 839 in 2012, many people are looking to Charlotte for the jobs and home affordability. Two of the most notable neighborhoods being discussed in the Charlotte area are the South Charlotte neighborhood of Sedgefield and the new Shea Homes adult community of Carolina Ridge. Sedgefield which boasts the title of the 7th hottest community in the nation, is filled with beautiful lots with plenty of mature trees. The Shea community will be coming in late 2015 but is already one of the most talked about communities around Charlotte because of the prime real estate close to Lake Norman.
