Realtor.org wanted to learn how REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associations are involved with their local Clubs, and hear uplifting success stories from REALTORS® about how their experience as a local Club Kid positively impacted their life.

And Showcase Realty, LLC made the cut and has been featured on their website.

Club: Boys & Girls Club of Greater Charlotte
Years Involved: 8

When I started Showcase Realty, LLC in 2008, I wanted to align myself and my company with a children's charity. I met with the Executive Director of the Charlotte Boys & Girls Club and asked if I could raise funds when I was holding training workshops for agents on how to sell HUD homes.

I raised money from sponsors and coordinated with a local consignment shop to pick up and sell items found in foreclosed properties and donate 60% of the proceeds. The bank saved in trash-out fees, and the Clubs received donations, win win!

A few months later, the Director asked me to join their Advisory Council, and then shortly thereafter, I was put on the Executive Board and became Chairperson of the Resource Development Committee. We promote to the public that every sale we make results in a donation that goes to the Club.

Over the years we have seen the joy in many children's faces through the events we have hosted, including named sponsor for Fun Fest (June 2014), named sponsor for Club at Long View Gold Tournament (June 2014), table sales at the Steak ”˜n' Burger dinner (September 2014 and 2015), table sales at positive place for kids breakfast (February 2014 and March 2015), named sponsor for Youth of the Month event (January 2016).

We also arranged and hosted a fabulous carnival for the kids at one of their local Clubs to add some fun and excitement to their summer. Each child was given a gift and they were able to have popcorn, cotton candy, fried chicken, and play dunk and other carnival games, including face painting and crafts. In 2014 we adopted a Christmas family and gave them tons of gifts and a home cooked Christmas dinner.

Over the years we have donated more than $20,000 to the Club and counting. We are donating $10,000 for our 2015 pledge, so the number will actually be $30,000 in addition to the money we have raised from our vendors and families and friends.

The Boys & Girls Club provides a quality experience that children of all ages need. Taking a little time out of your day can impact someone for a lifetime, which can lead to many success stories in the future of our younger generations. We are thrilled that NAR is aligning with the Clubs, as we are very proud to be involved with the Clubs ourselves on a continuous basis.
